About the Artist

I loved drawing and painting even as a child. I filled many sketchbooks with drawings of animals - mostly horses!  Oddly enough taking a formal art class in college had the effect of snuffing out my natural enjoyment of drawing. After earning my BA with a specialization in education, then working as a teacher in Special Education for several years, I side stepped to a career in technical writing. This lead to a day job on Wall Street, which allowed me to escape the office at night and find my way to excitement at Life Drawing sessions in a seedy Soho basement! This reignited my love of drawing, particularly of the human form.

Although I continued to work full time for financial companies for several years, I spent all available evening/weekend time studying art and creating art. It was such an opportunity to be inspired by world class art collections while living in New York and later in London. 

My primary attraction has always been the human form. The versatility and design of it are endlessly fascinating.  I also have a deep appreciation for beauty in all life forms. Most of my wildlife paintings over the past few years have been for the benefit of organizations who protect and rescue elephants, bears and big cats under threat. 

In 2022, I relocated to Spring Hill, Florida, seeking some measure of freedom and sanity.  I found a home with a spacious studio space with good light. Plenty of light in Florida! Prior to that, I was in the gorgeous pacific northwest for many years, gardening, hiking and loving the nature there.
